Things started with John, Marty, and Gary, the day after heavy rains and with the forecast of a warmup near the end of the trip. We drove a little further to Montmagny to start. Till the 551, things were very thin, then everything was perfect for the entire trip. Marty got home-sick after day 1 and we split on day 2. He had problems with the ice and rolled his sled. Only John has those pics. We continued on to meet up with groomer and to the end of the peninsula. Lots of hard trails and ice, so I'm glad I run with studs this time of year. All sleds ran fine, and the 800-Etec was about the same as the 600-SDI for fuel and oil. We could have used a little more grooming, especially Perce to Gaspe. The warmup also ended up changing to snow, with about 8" to start the final day and 1" toward the truck. Everything had frozen up, and you couldn't ask for a better trip, with no problems, and covering 1815 miles over 6-days. |
